Description
This work is inspired by my late brother, Stu MacLean, a talented DJ, who liked to mix records. It currently hangs in my private artist’s collection.
He loved vinyl and also enjoyed making music online and I recall him taking a sample from a recruitment ad by the US Marines and mixing it with some funk, I think I uploaded it somewhere on Soundcloud as Stu’s Fat Funk, it was hilarious. Stu was a pretty funny guy!
What I really like about this painting? It’s how the brushstrokes interact with the oil pastels. If you look carefully, you’ll see I’ve painted using two different types of black, a shiny black and a matt black to represent the records.
